Central Park is still growing! In fact, at the recent CPUN (Central Park United Neighbors) annual forum on May 19th, 2026, we got a closer look at 13 active and upcoming projects. Jack Seward, the now-former community services coordinator for the MCA, presented a 57-page slideshow of development projects—and there’s a lot going on.
The development update shows plans for a number of the remaining vacant parcels throughout the neighborhood. There are residential developments that will feature townhomes, paired homes, apartments, and some income-qualified options. As for commercial developments, the update includes more details about the highly-anticipated Whole Foods coming to the plot of land just south of I-70 and west of Central Park Blvd. There are also plans for the land next to FlyteCo, the various parcels near the Light Rail station, and so much more!

Here are some key takeaways:
• Big news at Northfield

We already told you about some of the changes coming to Avenues at Northfield, but they’re major enough that it’s worth recapping! Recently bought by Stockdale Capital Partners, the area is being transformed, with planned additions including a huge pedestrian-friendly area, a fire pit, water fountain, and kids’ play area. On the business front, Wayfair, Trader Joe’s, and LifeTime Fitness are coming! As for housing, the plan is for 216 townhome apartments just east of the shopping area on the southwest corner of Northfield Boulevard and Willow Street.
• Drumroll… Whole Foods is on the map!

The development project on the land formally called Parcel 8 Filing 63 is the project that includes Whole Foods! The area will also include a public park, pedestrian-friendly walkways, other retail businesses, rowhomes and apartments (some of which will be part of the affordable housing program).
• Townhomes coming to Central Park West

People living in Central Park West, especially those close to 35th Avenue, have wondered what will be built on the vacant land on the northwest corner of E 35th Avenue and Uinta Street. This block, formally known as TOD Parcel 13, will become townhome rentals with private garages. I imagine this news will be well-received by neighbors, since it will likely mean longer-term, market value rentals, and less congestion and street parking than you’d expect with commercial space or very high-density housing. You can hear more about the projects directly from Jack Seward in this video from the annual forum, and you can sign up for email notifications from CPUN here. Let us know which projects you’re most excited about!
