It always seems like around this time of year, someone you know starts talking about how summer is almost over, it’s flying by, and so on and so on. We are here to reject that idea! There is still tons of time to enjoy the slower pace, outdoor time, and some of the free events right here in our neighborhood organized by our community association.
And a big heads-up about one event. The Central Park Kids Triathlon, taking place on August 23, is always a fun and inspiring day. There’s one key deadline coming up you won’t want to miss if your kiddo didn’t get a spot when registration first opened. The MCA is releasing more spots at 10am on Tuesday July 21 and they predict the event will fill up fast, so set an alarm! And look for our Central Park Scoop tent at the finish line—we’ll have some fun swag to give out.

July 18
Concert on the Green: The Wash Park Band
Free, South Green, 7pm to 9pm
Bring chairs or a blanket and spread out to enjoy the band, who say that they play “horn band era dance music from the 70’s to the top 40 hits of today.”
July 23
Julius Caesar Lecture
Free, Sam Gary Library, 1pm to 2pm
If you’re looking for something a little more educational and adult-focused, check out this lecture on the life and impact of Julius Caesar.
July 23
MoJaBlu Concert Series: DOTSERO
Free, North Green, 6:30pm to 8:30 pm
This celebrated jazz band plays a lively mix of original songs and covers.
July 24
Movie on the Green: National Treasure
Free, South Green, 8:45 pm to 10:45pm
If your kids haven’t seen the 2004 original Nic Cage classic yet, here’s your chance to show them!
July 30
MoJaBlu Concert Series: Jacob Larson Band
Free, 6:30pm to 8:30 pm, North Green
This band, which describes themselves as a 10-piece funk and soul ensemble, should make for a fun night on the lawn.
