Carve for a Cause!
Would your kids want to enter a Jack O Lantern contest this Halloween? Here are the details, and the big bonus is the proceeds go to support Kids’ Compassion Project!
Many of you may recall an interview I posted here with the founders of Kids’ Compassion Project, a non-profit started by two moms right here in Stapleton, dedicated to building compassion in kids by providing meaningful service opportunities while partnering with other local non-profits. If you haven’t already done so, check out their website (Kids’ Compassion Project) and in particular their past events section of their website so you can see what they’ve been up to so far. We’ve attended several of their events with our young daughters and I can tell you it quickly shifts their mindset from “how are you going to entertain me today?” to “what could we do to help someone else?” They’re sponges and whatever we put in they absorb…we just have to put them in the right situations to learn to care for others. That’s huge for us, and we need more of it.
So back to the pumpkin carving fun…
The Jack O Lantern carving contest is on October 30th from 5:30 – 8:00pm at the Founder’s Green in Stapleton. (7601 E 29th Ave) It is for all ages (including adults). There is no cost to enter, and prizes, which are based on age groups, include an Apple Watch, goodies from local shop Semplice, an hour of body work from Mile Hygiene Bodywork, and much more!
You carve your pumpkin at home and bring it to the contest completed. As I mentioned there is no cost to enter but if you’d like to make a donation to the Kids’ Compassion Project that is encouraged. The purpose of the event is to have fun but also to raise some funds and awareness of the organization.
Starbucks will be providing free hot chocolate, and also on hand will be the Fire Truck Crepes food truck.
While there is no charge to enter, Kids’ Compassion Project asks for you to register in advance here.
