The scariest Haunted House in Denver is right next to Central Park? The Scoop finds out

I’ve heard the buzz the past several Halloweens.

One of the scariest haunted houses not just in Denver, but the entire country, is just 4 miles from Denver’s Central Park?

The 13th Floor Haunted House

Located just west of Central Park’s Northfield neighborhood at 3400 E. 52nd Avenue, is the 13th Floor really that scary? USA Today said it’s one of the top 5 scariest haunted houses in the country.

That’s a bold statement, so of course we had to go find out!

The Scoop was fortunate to get an early peek at the 13th Floor Haunted House this past weekend. We screamed, we laughed, and we had more fun than you can imagine.

What I especially liked about the 13th Floor is how there are different experiences depending on how involved, and how intense, you want your Halloween thrill. If you’re looking for a night out with a drink and maybe some axe throwing fun, or maybe a mini-Escape Room, the 13th Floor has you covered.

If you’re looking for more of a “I don’t know if I’m going to make it out of here!!!” experience, the 13th Floor delivers.

Your casual experience options? For starters, the 13th Floor has themed cocktails at a large outdoor bar aptly named the “Shriekeasy Bar.” The bar has great drinks and a more casual, Halloween atmosphere.

Axe throwing is another fun, casual experience. Samantha on our team stepped up and volunteered to try out the axes. Let’s just say if you’re ever alone with Samantha in the woods and you need to stop a predator with an axe, hand that axe over to her because she can throw it like you wouldn’t believe!

If you’re looking for something more – like complete darkness, physical challenges, and another level of fright – check out the “Sensory Overload” experience. Here’s what you’re in for:

“This intense fear-inducing experience will take guests to levels that 13th Floor has never gone before… Guests will enter a maze in complete darkness and need to rely on their sense of sound, smell, and touch to make their way through physical challenges. Disclaimer: Staff will not touch guests, however, this interactive experience will require that guests use their hands to guide their way, walk, duck, step over, and squeeze through some strange spaces.”

Is the 13th Floor Haunted House the scariest haunted house in Denver? We polled our team after the experience and the answer was a definitive, and hoarse (after all our yelling), “Yes!”

We’ll post more pictures and videos of the 13th Floor on the Central Park Scoop Facebook and Central Park Scoop Instagram pages as we get closer to Halloween.

Tickets are on sale now at the 13th Floor’s website. Children are welcome, but the 13th Floor does advise on its website that the experience might be too intense for children under 12. This is one where you’ll have to use your good judgement as a parent knowing what your children are comfortable with.

There are also ticket options that allow you to skip the line, which is a great idea especially on busy nights leading up to Halloween.

So for all you ghouls and goblins out there looking for a Halloween thrill, you can’t go wrong with the 13th Floor!
