The first home I built

Kitchen in the Parkwood Lexington listed by Ashely Faller on our team for $897,493 in Painted Prairie

My first time building a new house was many years ago.  My family stumbled upon a wonderful lot in what was then a giant construction zone called “Northfield” (my how things change!).  We built with one of Denver’s most popular builders, Parkwood Homes.

I was hooked.

I made spreadsheets to compare pricing on all the different upgrades.  I customized what I thought were my highest ROI – and favorite – upgrades.  I moved walls … and then I moved them back.

At one point I was thinking about 15+ different customizations. My husband, in the most supportive way he could muster, said I could pick exactly 3. Life is about compromise, and we had a firm budget, so I bid farewell to the 3rd floor window wall (we built a three story townhome), the built-ins I liked, and more.

At the end of the day it all came together perfectly, and I knew I’d stumbled upon something I loved. And as those of you with spouses might appreciate, years later my husband conceded that maybe, just maybe, we could’ve gone with a few more of my proposals. Maybe next time (ha!).

Even today I’ll drive by my old Parkwood in Northfield’s Conservatory Green and reminisce about family memories, and also what I learned by intimately living through the design and build process.  One of my favorite parts of my job as a real estate agent today is doing the same with our clients all over the Denver metro. We’ve been fortunate to help 100+ clients build new construction homes everywhere from Castle Rock to Erie.

Our team at Focus Real Estate has also been fortunate to build and resell dozens of Parkwoods with our clients in Central Park and in south Denver’s new “community by the mountains,” Sterling Ranch (these were the only two communities Parkwood used to build in … but that’s changing as well. More on that below.).  Parkwood builds some of the most iconic homes in Denver.

From the often-photographed Painted Ladies to spectacular Ashevilles with decks pretty much, well, everywhere.  You know a Parkwood when you see one.

One unique quality of Parkwood is the limited inventory of homes.  Simply, there are opportunities to build with Parkwood here and there, but Parkwood is a semi-custom, more local builder that isn’t as focused on scale as some of the more national, production builders.  So if you’re interested in Parkwood, you need to jump when you can.

So … if you’re thinking about jumping on a Parkwood, Ashley Faller on our team recently listed a brand new, immaculate Parkwood Lexington in a new neighborhood Parkwood is building in called Painted Prairie.  Here’s the listing so you can see for yourself. I included a lot of pictures of the Lexington in this post as well.

What’s Painted Prairie? Well, to start with, you haven’t been to Painted Prairie, and you like the parks, the walking trails, and the overall aesthetic of Central Park, you need to take a quick drive around Painted Prairie.  Just 15 minutes east of Central Park and 5 minutes to DIA (very close to Gaylord Rockies), we’ve found Painted Prairie is very popular with our clients.

Ashley also has a wonderful community website called Painted Prairie Living that covers everything from the parks to local businesses to new home inventory.

There’s so much to love about this Lexington located at 21265 E. 61st Drive, Aurora, Colorado 80019.  Listed for $897,493, this 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home is available today.

And if you’re interested in building in Painted Prairie and living the design and build process like I once did, just shoot me a note at Mariel@Focus-Realtors.com.  Ashley and I are happy to get into all the details with you, from lot availability to floorplans to our favorite upgrades to our inspection recommendations and so much more.

We pride ourselves on our new construction expertise and would love to help you build the Parkwood of your dreams!
