If you’ve been anywhere near the Central Park neighborhood lately, you’ve probably heard the sound of tiles clicking. Mahjong has taken this community by storm, and a lot of that energy traces back to one person: Julie Bellina.

Julie has been part of the Central Park business community for nearly 15 years. Most people know her as the owner of The Skin Care Studio, where she’s built a loyal following as a licensed esthetician. But her latest venture has nothing to do with skincare and everything to do with connection.

Central Park Mahjong was born out of Julie’s love for the game and her desire to bring people together while supporting local businesses. The concept is simple: gather around the table to play, learn, and connect. Whether you’re a seasoned player or have never touched a tile, Central Park Mahjong offers lessons, open play, and private events for Denver’s growing mahjong community. Bonus is that many of the events are hosted in partnership with the local businesses that make this neighborhood what it is.

It’s the kind of thing that sounds small until you see it in action. People are showing up. They’re learning something new, meeting their neighbors, and finding a community they didn’t know they were looking for. That’s the magic of what Julie has built.

Now she’s channeling that community spirit into something even bigger. Julie is hosting Mahjong for Memories, a fundraiser evening where every dollar raised goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Association. It’s the kind of event that feels like Julie in a nutshell: fun, generous, and rooted in something real.

Here’s what to know:

Mahjong for Memories

Wednesday, March 25

6:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Stanley Beer Hall (Stanley Marketplace)

Tickets: $65

The evening kicks off with open play from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by dinner provided by Stanley Beer Hall from 7:00 to 7:30 PM (vegetarian options available, drinks available for purchase). Then it’s back to the tables for more play and a raffle drawing from 7:30 to 8:30 PM.

Mahjong wins earn raffle tickets toward prizes, and you can also purchase additional raffle tickets to help raise even more.

All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

Can’t make it but still want to support? You can donate directly through Julie’s fundraising page.

Here at Central Park Scoop, we love helping connect people, spotlight the amazing things happening in this neighborhood, and help people find their community. This is one of those events that checks every single box.
