Inside Scoop: Costco update, new coffee shop is here, Halal Guys restaurant & Smoothie King are coming, Bistro Vendome & Raising Cane’s open, and more!
There’s a lot going on around Denver’s Central Park these days!
As a co-owner of Focus Real Estate, I track the latest business news around the neighborhood. We’re continuing our tradition of featuring local businesses on the Scoop (last year we featured 100+ local business all for free).
Our goal is to help promote local businesses any way we can. Email me at Mariel@Focus-Realtors.com if you’d like more information. And if you like these kinds of local posts sign up for the Scoop!
Before we dive in, our team has been busy this spring helping clients with new construction homes all over Denver – in Central Park’s North End, Macanta, Painted Prairie, Sterling Ranch, Wild Plum, The Canyons at Castle Pines, and others.
Our team’s listings have been performing very well so far in 2023, and our buyers are re-engaging and ready to buy (look for a post with all our buyers’ needs on the Scoop soon).
As an example of one of our team’s spring listings, be sure to check out 8266 Superior – listed by Rebecca Fawcett and myself. This 4 bed, 3.5 bath home gorgeous Parkwood in Littleton’s Sterling Ranch neighborhood is listed for $1,150,000.
Our team of 7 brokers would love to help you if you’re thinking about buying, selling, building, or leasing real estate – so reach out to anyone at Focus for help.
Now, on to the business updates!

NEW COFFEE SHOP OPENS CLOSE TO CENTRAL PARK
Glissade Coffee Company recently opened its doors at 2520 Galena St. Unit 3, Aurora, CO 80010. You can find Glissade near Judi’s House and Hardt Family Cyclery (there’s a big colorful mural on the side of the building).
Glissade is currently in their “soft opening” phase with their Grand Opening on March 25th.
The cafe space offers a variety of seating options, a cozy fireplace, and ample outlets for plugging in if needed.
Joe Phillips of the Scoop recently stopped by. You can check out his Scoop post here:
Glissade Coffee Company Opens Near the Central Park Neighborhood
WHEN WILL THE NEW COSTCO OPEN?
Signs are up on Denver’s new Costco which is about a 10 minute drive from Central Park!
We don’t have a projected opening date yet, so we stopped by last week to see what we could learn.
When we visited, the (extremely) large parking lot was mostly unpaved. Also, contractors appeared to be working on utilities around the building and from what we could tell, it appeared the building was not yet stocked with product. So opening ay yet be a few months away.
The new Costco is located just off Pena Blvd. on the way to/from DIA. The address is 4741 Airport way, Denver, Colorado.
We’ll update everyone on the Scoop once we know more!
SMOOTHIE KING MOVING IN THANKS TO NFL PLAYER
A few weeks ago we stopped by Denver’s newest Smoothie King to check out the progress.
The new location is at Central Park Blvd and Northfield Blvd – close to MOD Pizza, Qdoba, and the AT&T store.
What’s Now Denver has all the background on the new location, including how it’s being opened by former NFL player Josh Martin, who grew up in Aurora.
Here’s the article. We’ll keep everyone updated on the Scoop as we learn more about a firm opening date.
IS HALAL GUYS COMING TO NORTHFIELD?
Last fall it was reported that The Halal Guys was moving into Denver’s Northfield neighborhood. The chosen location? The old Intersections restaurant space at 8241 Northfield Blvd.
We stopped by the restaurant this week and confirmed that Halal Guys is in fact moving in and is currently under construction. We don’t have official word yet, but rumor is that the restaurant is aiming for an April opening.
Halal Guys is a fast casual restaurant concept that started in New York City in 1990, and now has several hundred locations throughout the country. Halal Guys’ other Colorado location is close to the Aurora Mall at 14535 E Alameda Ave Suite D, Aurora, CO 80012.
If you’d like to learn more about the new location, check out this article in What’s Now Denver.
WHAT’S GOING IN NEXT TO WAHOO’S AND STARBUCKS IN NORTHFIELD?
The lot just north of Super Target and west of Wahoo’s and Starbucks in Northfield will soon be the home of a new drive-thru bank it appears. We did some research, and here’s what the City and County of Denver posted about the project at 7900 Northfield Blvd:
“Proposed 4,283 SF (Approximate) Bank building and associated parking/drive through.”
As you can see from the picture, when we stopped by last week preliminary site work was underway.
We’re awaiting confirmation on which bank will be built on the site, but early word is that it could be a BOK Financial branch location. We’ll update everyone once we have more information and a proposed opening date.
WHAT’S THE LARGE PROJECT NEXT TO THE OLD AIRPORT CONTROL TOWER?
Curious what’s going in at the intersection of Central Park Blvd and MLK, Jr. Blvd – next to the new FlyteCo Tower restaurant?
Joe Phillips on our team has all the details in this Scoop post:
What’s being built next to FlyteCo Tower in Central Park?
BISTRO VENDOME OPENS IN PARK HILL
Bistro Vendome recently opened its new location at 2267 Kearney in Park Hill, just west of Fred Thomas Park.
Here’s what Bistro Vendome’s website says about the origin of the restaurant’s name:
“Place Vendôme, considered a favorite among Parisians, is a renowned historic square located the heart of Paris. This is purposefully a bistro, not a café nor a brasserie.
The selection of the name “Bistro Vendôme” reflects the desired image in the community: a local neighborhood favorite rich with history that offers an exceptional dining experience in a charming, neighborhood setting.”
Dinner:
4–9 pm Sunday – Thursday
4–10 pm Friday & Saturday
Brunch: 9–2 pm Saturday and Sunday

RAISING CANE’S NOW OPEN
Rebecca Fawcett and Stephanie Airman were at the Grand Opening celebration of Denver’s newest Raising Cane’s this week.
The new location is just off I-70 and Central Park Blvd at the new Runway 35 North development.
Next question: When will Denver’s newest In-N-Out, which is next door to Raising Cane’s, open? Stay tuned to the Scoop for an In-N-Out update soon!
The new Raising Cane’s is located at 4517 Central Park Blvd, Denver, Colorado
BAR METHOD IN NORTHFIELD CLOSING
One of our favorite local businesses, Bar Method, recently announced that it’s closing. Needless to say this is sad news for the entire neighborhood. Here at the Scoop we wish everyone the best and thank the Bar Method for being a community gathering spot for the past few years.
Here’s the closing notice on Facebook. If you don’t use Facebook, here’s the post:
“It is with a heavy heart and a rainbow of emotions that I share some hard news. The Bar Method Denver – Northfield will permanently close effective Wednesday, March 22 (after 4 final barre classes at 6AM, 9AM, 11AM & 4:30PM).
For some of you, this may be a shock, but for others, you may have seen signs of this coming over the past 3 years. COVID was hard for our studio (even though our team was resourceful beyond resourceful) and we’ve continued to struggle to rebuild. The landlord has found a new tenant for the space, so it’s time for us to move on!
I’m beyond proud of the community that we’ve built together over the past 7 years (many of you started in my basement back in 2016!) and the friendships that have been forged. I will treasure them dearly and I feel so fortunate to have been a part of something so great. You have cheered us on and supported our efforts every step of the way, and our studio’s strong community is unquestionably what makes me the proudest. My appreciation for your loyalty and the inspiration you sparked within me is endless – thank you for being wonderful friends.
Our schedule will remain full for the next week. I encourage you to get in for a last couple Bar Method classes. If you don’t have an active membership or credits, you can purchase discounted drop-in classes on The Bar Method app.“
IS TELSA MOVING INTO CENTRAL PARK?
Here at the Scoop we dig into a lot of different Central Park and northeast Denver development and business rumors. One rumor we’ve heard going around?
Well, there’s been some recent chatter about a car dealership potentially opening in Central Park. Some of the rumors also involve a Tesla store and service center.

BEST LOCAL SPOTS FOR KIDS’ BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Rebecca Fawcett on our team is no stranger to kids’ birthday parties (she has two lovely little ones of her own). In fact, our entire team here at the Scoop has 20 kids – so we know our birthday party venues.
Here’s what Rebecca had to say about birthday options:
“I’m a firm believer that you either love or loathe planning birthday parties. These days, there are so many options available for parents and the thought of figuring out what to do can be daunting; not to mention the added pressure to do something different each year.
… I often get asked for party ideas, so I thought compiling all the amazing ideas into one location would not only benefit those around me but also the community who are always looking to simplify the party process too! I sent out a note to a group of local moms asking for their favorite party ideas & locations and they did not disappoint!”

SECOND DAWN BREWING NOW OPEN
A new brewery recently opened a block away from Stanley Marketplace.
I love the story behind the new Second Dawn Brewing. Here’s how the brewery went from idea to reality with owners Ross and Amy:
“[During the pandemic] Ross and Amy started walking daily to maintain sanity, the idea of living the ultimate dream of owning and operating a brewery began to come into focus. The hunt for a great space began, and the future Second Dawn location was found in an auto body repair shop in North Aurora, one block away from the Stanley Marketplace. A couple of years and a complete renovation later, the dream is real and doors are opening in February 2023.”
Ross has a degree from the UC Davis Master Brewers Program in California and worked at New Belgium Brewing for over a decade, so we’re excited to try Ross’ new brews. Second Dawn’s hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am until 9 pm.
Joe Phillips on our team met up with Ross and toured the new brewery a few weeks ago. Check out his Scoop post here.
Second Dawn Brewing is located at 2302 Dayton Street, next to Progess Coworking.

Thanks for all the great updates! Any way to find out what the timeline is for the green spaces on the North End? We’ve been here a year and a half and have seen very little progress for the areas between 56th/63rd/Dallas/Hanover.
Hi Jen – great question! I know exactly what you’re referencing. I don’t have specific timelines for when the parks and green spaces might be finished. I’m hopeful it will be this summer, since outside a few lots North End is close-ish to being complete from a construction perspective.
