Just a quick post to let you know that there is an event coming up this weekend that you won’t want to miss. We’re coming up on the tenth anniversary of the Stanley Marketplace. I moved to Central Park about four years before it opened, so I remember the announcement that the old airplane hangar was going to be transformed. At the time, that area didn’t have a ton of businesses or restaurants so I figured that if the Stanley worked out, it was going to be huge for Central Park. And now, it’s hard to imagine the neighborhood without it!

It’s not just a spot for acclaimed restaurants like Annette and Boychik or for grabbing a bagel at Rosenberg’s or a treat at Sweet Cow or Miette et Chocolat. It’s truly a community gathering place—I often meet with colleagues in the open spaces, kids love playing at LuBird’s Light playground, and I always run into at least one person I know when I stop by for a coffee at Logan Coffee House. It’s the place you bring friends and family when they’re in town (like I’m doing this weekend with an old friend from New Mexico who’s visiting!)

This Saturday, August 22, in honor of that tenth anniversary, the Stanley is planning a major event, Taste of Stanley, from 2pm to 5pm. A ton of the restaurants in the space will be offering bites and snacks and a $50 ticket gets you all those, plus beer pours and wine and spirit tastings. (The event website teases a few of the bites that’ll be on offer: brisket sliders, mini Taiwanese pork belly rice bowls, house-made chorizo nachos, a trio of dips with pita and veggies, tiramisu tarts, and traditional Argentinian alfajores.)

With your ticket during the hours of the event, you also are eligible for discounts at businesses in the Stanley. Just a few examples: 10 percent off plus a free 3D printed figure at Mindcraft Makerspace, 10 percent off a golf bay rental at Local Drive, and 20 percent off a skin or haircare product at Clementine Salon. See the website for the full list and all the details.

Grab your ticket now and head over to the Stanley this weekend to enjoy old favorites, discover new spots, and celebrate the space that has brought so much to Central Park!
