Leaving the Eastbridge King Soopers the other day, I noticed a new business had opened in that triangle at MLK just south of Havana Street: Revel Strength and Wellness. A sign outside announced that they were offering yoga and Pilates classes for $15 a class and the space itself looked intriguing, so I reached out to them to find out more! Turns out, Revel is going to be an incredible new addition to the neighborhood.
As they describe it, Revel is “where strength training, clinical care, and recovery come together under one roof.” That means there’s a strength training gym with small group classes and 24-hour-access open gym, yoga and Pilates classes, physical therapy, psychotherapy, longevity and recovery treatments including peptides and IVs, and massage services—all in one space and all available a la carte so you can book what you need, when you need it.
The owner is Corby Felsher, who ran the Central Park Cleaning business for 25 years. Corby has deep roots in this neighborhood and a long history training with Revel’s co-owner, Brandon Harkey, a nationally ranked weight- and powerlifter who runs the gym portion of things.
What sets Revel apart is their focus on forging bonds between people in the area. As Corby told me, the two best indicators of how long you’ll live are grip strength and community. Revel can assist with both! Obviously they offer many ways that someone could build strength and improve their health, but they really get fired up when they talk about the sense of community they’re striving to build.
He and Brandon make it super clear in talking to them and on the Revel website that all fitness levels are welcome and encouraged! Brandon mentioned that in the small group strength classes, everything is self-directed and not time-pressured, making the classes accessible for beginners as well as more experienced lifters. And many of the providers there have been working together for years and have loyal clients who are already forming the backbone of the place.
And for the more spa-like aspect, my colleague who knows about these things was excited to see that they will offer Thai bodywork and massage. Thai massage is a specialized stretching massage that leaves you feeling limber and alleviates a lot of muscle soreness—it’s an amazing service that you don’t find at many spas.
This new business is Corby’s passion and he’s excited to be working with his adult son Charlie, who will be the general manager. It’s clear they’re very excited and pouring everything they have into this new community!
