My 7 favorite items at Denver’s new Sprouts on Central Park (plus my runner-ups!)
It was a long wait, but the new Sprouts on Central Park Boulevard is open!
My family has been scouting out the new location. Great deals? How do $.75 avocados sound? Best time to go? Still working on it (Monday morning was perfect this week when I had three kids in tow). Interesting items you can’t find at Central Park’s local Super Target or 2 King Soopers locations? A lavender mint craft lemonade – yes, I said craft lemonade – is a must-try.
I stopped by this past Monday (Oct. 12th) and wanted to share my favorite items. Enjoy!
Blueberry bonanza
Sprouts’ 6 oz. blueberries are $.98 right now. I remember getting gas for $.98 in high school. Maybe blueberries were the same price back when I was cruising around in my old beat up Accord, and if they were, that was a pretty good deal even back then.
The best part about the blueberries? Like a lot of produce at Sprouts, the blueberries are ripe and delicious. Regardless of price, my kids have consistently loved the blueberries we’ve picked up over the past few weeks.
Ice cream (options, options, options!)
Variety is the spice of life … especially when it comes to ice cream! Sprouts has an abundance of organic, dairy-free, low calorie gelatos, ice creams, and more. We’re slowly working through the different options that appeal to us. There have been a few hits, and a few misses. But it’s a nice change of pace to have so many new, unique desserts to try!
Perfectly ripe avocados
My husband, a self-proclaimed avocado expert after researching avocado import/export laws for Chipotle many, many years ago (he reminds me of this a little too often), thinks this is the best deal at Sprouts right now. Not because of the price, though the price is excellent.
I know many of you have spent time at the grocery store trying to figure out if the avocados you’re about to buy are ripe. So far we’ve had a lot of luck with Sprouts’ avocados. The ones we’ve purchased are ready to go right on the turkey avocado sandwich!
Craft lemonade making waves on Central Park
Craft lemonade? This is a new one for me, but it’s hard to walk around the prepared foods area and not eye the colorful lemonades cascading in front of you. I try to resist when I walk by, but the Sprouts consumer behavior department must know me better than I know myself. A lavender mint lemonade? It’s my kryptonite!
A 16 oz. craft lemonade is $1.99 and a 24 oz. $2.59.
Reaching for that elusive Izze
My kids love the single Izzes! They taste great, come in bright kid-friendly colors, and are reasonably priced right now ($.99).
If the kids do a good job while we’re at Sprouts we’ll grab an Izze before we check out, which is a great way to placate them and gives them something to drink on the way home.
Step aside, Mom, I have my strawberries
My middle son loves Sprouts’ strawberries! They are big, juicy, and if you haven’t picked up on a common theme in this Scoop post, ripe and delicious. You know the strawberries are good when a toddler beelines toward them and asks you to move out of the way so he can put them in the cart!
Lemons and limes galore!
I’m not normally a lemon or lime person, but it seems every time we stop by Sprouts we end up with a couple of each. The limes tend to make their way into a margarita or a cocktail; the lemons, we’ve been making it up as we go. Last night we used a little lemon juice in a basic pasta dish, which was a refreshing change of pace.
So there you have it friends! In case you’re curious, I included a few of my “runner-ups” below to give you a feel of a few other items available at our local Sprouts right now. Happy shopping!
