It’s the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Stanley Marketplace. Central Park old-timers remember the excitement when the project was announced and those first visits to the marketplace back in 2016. For a pop culture time stamp, that was the era of Beyonce’s Lemonade, Stranger Things, and zoodles.
If you moved to the neighborhood after the Stanley had opened, you might find it hard to imagine the neighborhood without the collection of over 50 locally-owned businesses! I grab coffee or meet friends or just have a family dinner there at least once a week (shoutout Logan Coffee House).
Lucky for us, in honor of that tenth anniversary, the Stanley has tons of events happening this weekend, August 21st to 23rd. We told you about one biggie, the Taste of Stanley on Saturday afternoon, but there are plenty of other events to check out as well!
Friday, August 21: Live Music And A Creator Market
Start the weekend with a free, kid-friendly evening on the New Field from 4 to 8PM. There will be live music, food and drinks, with performances by Man Cubs and Ninety2K. There’ll also be something called the Blue Adventure Experience from 3 to 8PM, where kids can build with giant blue blocks.
There will also be a Creator Market inside the Stanley from 5 to 9PM, featuring local artists and handcrafted goods. You can register for a spot at a candle-making workshop as well! The class is $30.
Saturday, August 22: Taste of Stanley and More
Taste of Stanley runs from 2 to 5PM and is essentially a sampler of everything Stanley. Tickets are $50 and include bites from Stanley restaurants, beer samples, and more. There will also be live music throughout the afternoon, including a jazz trio on the West Patio from 3 to 5PM.
And there’s a bonus for shoppers: During the event hours, Taste of Stanley ticket holders can receive up to 20 percent off purchases at participating retailers.
Also on Saturday, there’ll be an Old School Cool Vintage Market from 10AM to 6PM on the West Patio, where you can browse vintage clothing, furniture, vinyl and other finds. At the Village Farm, there will be farm tours and fresh cut flowers from 10AM to 2PM.
Sunday, August 23: Cool Cars and Disco Yoga
TINTZ Cars & Coffee runs from 9AM to noon, offering coffee and a chance to check out a lineup of cool cars. There’s also Silent Disco Yoga from 9 to 11AM, where participants get headphones and move through a yoga session with their own soundtrack. A Bonez & Brekkie dog walk for Sunday morning is already full, but keep an eye out for future events!
