Hey everyone! We’ve been getting some great tools from Brian Sheehan who heads up a lot of Rapids Youth Soccer Club’s local programming and wanted to share them with you. Below you’ll find the info and resources that Brian has been emailing out weekly.
Week 1:
My name is Brian Sheehan. I oversee 8U-10U recreational programming for Rapids Youth Soccer Club’s central region.
With kids not in school and many adults home from work, I feel obliged to provide Rapids players and parents with some material to keep your soccer-brains active!
For players, below are some individual ball-work videos. The skills they model are great for occupying time and encourage healthy, productive, and fun backyard / driveway physical activity. I’ve included links to our club’s skills challenge too!
For parents, check out the video called “How to Be a Great Sports Parent” by world renowned Tedx speaker and author of Changing The Game, John O’Sullivan. I know John personally, and his material is worth your time.

Week 2:
Before hopping into any of the content, I just want to emphasize how much my colleagues and I care. We understand that households have a lot to bear right now, and that the physical and cognitive growth of children is a piece of that picture – particularly with kids home from school. We genuinely want to support players, parents, and volunteer coaches in this regard by providing a structured soccer-at-home experience. We also understand that people’s ‘bandwidth’ might be limited. As such, there’s no pressure here. The Soccer-at-Home Program is very well thought out, has a lot to offer, and can be done safely, but feel free to use it to the extent that you can or is beneficial.
So, as promised, linked here is Week 2 of the Soccer-at-Home for your Rapids player. As always, feel free to contact me. I’m happy to give you guidance or field questions.
Week 3:
Linked here is Week 3 of the Soccer-at-Home Program for your Rapids player.
