I’ve been to UCHealth’s A.F. Williams Family Medicine Clinic a few times for minor medical issues like strep throat and sinus infections, but I had no idea they treated patients of any age for a broad range of conditions and injuries in addition to providing primary care. And, I was very surprised to learn they also offer the full spectrum of obstetrical care for new and existing patients.

Patients can see the same doctor for primary care as well as throughout pregnancy and birth, and that same doctor can also care for their newborn throughout their life. Honestly, my mind was blown when I found out one doctor can handle everything. If I had only realized this was an option years ago when we were beginning to plan our family!

I recently had the chance to speak with several of the providers who lead the OB practice at A.F. Williams, which is located in Stapleton’s 29th Avenue Town Center. They shared with me that they can provide the same pregnancy care as other obstetric practices, including offering in-house ultrasounds. Providers deliver at UCHealth on the Anschutz Medical Campus and prioritize delivering their own patient’s babies whenever possible.

Obstetric patients see all of the providers in the practice at least once during your pregnancy so if your primary provider is unable to make it to the delivery, you’ll be previously introduced to the doctor who delivers your baby.

A.F. Williams employs a resident practice model, so in addition to a primary provider, one resident (a doctor who has earned their medical degree but is completing additional specialty training) is paired with a patient throughout their pregnancy, including being on call for them.

If any serious complications arise during pregnancy, the providers at A.F. Williams have direct access to all the high-risk and specialty obstetric providers (like maternal and fetal medicine) available within the UCHealth system.

As I mentioned earlier, once your baby is delivered, your doctor can become your baby’s doctor, too. All postpartum follow-up visits are done with mother and child. The clinic also works with patients to block out appointments for members of the same family for added convenience. With the busy-ness of life, there’s something very appealing about streamlining medical care with one doctor for the whole household.

“I love that I can take care of someone in the clinic, see them in the hospital and deliver their baby, take care of their baby and watch their child grow up,” Dr. Jessica Devitt told me. “I have a few patients where I see everyone in the family. This is truly providing a continuum of care.”

A.F. Williams offers extended hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:40 a.m. to 7 p.m. and often has same day availability. New patients are currently being accepted, and you can schedule an appointment online or by calling 720-848-9000. The clinic is located at 3055 Rosyln Street, Suite 100.
