Have you seen the new Judi’s House mural in Stanley Marketplace? In this quick video with Judi’s House CEO, Jessica Maitland-Mayo, we’ll chat about the mural and its purpose. Check it out and keep reading for more info on the mural, Judi’s House, and how you can help.
Judi’s House is located at 10125 E. 25th Ave. – just a few blocks East of Stanley Marketplace. Judi’s House is a community-based nonprofit bereavement center for children and families. For 20 years Judi’s House has been supporting grieving children and their families through free counseling services.
The mural was commissioned to help get the word out on their “1 in 12” campaign, which is their effort to bring awareness to the fact that 1 in 12 children are projected to experience the death of a parent or sibling before the age of 18. 1 in 12!
Unfortunately, I know two families in the area that have experienced this, and they greatly benefited from the support from Judi’s House. Judi’s House is right in our backyard as a community, and grieving families could use your help! Below are a few ways you can get involved:
- Make a donation – make a one-time or monthly donation (check for employer matching donation)
- Educate yourself on the data
- Use grief-sensitive language
- Advocate for grief education
- Volunteer
