Home Security Starts with You
Recently I was given a great opportunity to interview Steve Harmon of Home Security Strategies. Steve is a Beeler Park resident who specializes in home security and what homeowners can do to help deter crime. I reached out to Steve asking if he could give me any tips for the Scoop readers on how to make their homes more secure.
Steve did one better. He allowed me to record an interview which covered the basics of what his firm provides. It should be noted here that STEVE DOES NOT SELL ANYTHING. He is a retired intelligence officer and service-disabled combat Veteran with 30 years of experience and has been in 17 countries in a variety of circumstances requiring personal security skills. Much of what he knows was gained through specialized training and personal experience in Europe, Central America, west Africa, the Middle East, Iraq, and Bosnia. He’s worked in counter-terrorism, special operations, counter-drug, peacekeeping, and multinational operations across the intelligence community. He was an executive officer in the Pentagon during 9/11. He’s developed and taught graduate-level intelligence training courses. He currently holds a Top Secret security clearance, and is a published author on travel safety.
In short… this is a pretty good dude to know!
In this interview, we cover:
• Crime concerns specific to Stapleton
• Camera and alarm systems
• How to mitigate risk
We are really excited to have further interviews with Steve covering the use of security cameras and other systems that are popular in the neighborhood. If you have any home security questions or would like to see a specific topic covered here on the Scoop, please reach out and we’ll cover that topic for you.
