Do you have a kiddo entering kindergarten next year, or are you considering changing to a different elementary school? This is the season when you get to tour as many schools as you’d like and figure out which will be the best fit for your child and your family, all in advance of the round one School Choice deadline in December.
Tours aren’t a requirement, and don’t increase your chances of getting a spot in your first choice, but a lot of people find them to be helpful. Tours generally involve a walk around the school to check out the classrooms and campus as a whole, learning about the school’s teaching styles, curriculum and specials, and an opportunity to ask questions.
We have six elementary schools in the Central Park enrollment zone that are all excellent in their own ways. My three kids all went to Bill Roberts and had a wonderful experience! The schools all offer slightly different scheduling for tours. Here’s the latest on schools that have started signups, and we’ll post updates on the other schools when we get them. Inspire Elementary – Signups are open!
They just posted information about tours, with a variety of times and dates. See details and a link to the Google form to RSVP for your spot here.
Isabella Bird Community School – Signups are open!
Izzy B also just posted their tour dates and times, as well as links to a virtual tour and a virtual event about their gifted and talented magnet program. Get all the details here.
Swigert International School – Signups are open!
Swigert recently opened signups for their school tours. The tours last around 50 minutes and they prefer adults only to attend if possible.
Westerly Creek Elementary will be posting tour information in the next few weeks—we’ll stay tuned.
Willow Elementary – Signups are open!
Tour information and signups were recently posted! They note that the tour is primarily for parents and caregivers but that children are welcome if need be.
William (Bill) Roberts School – Signups are open!
Bill Roberts tour signups have begun, for dates from mid-October through January. Most tours are from 9:30 to 10:30am, plus a 6:30pm tour on January 7th. Children are welcome to attend as well.
