One of the best parts of living in our neighborhood is the fantastic local businesses that are tailor-made for active families. A lot of the focus is always on what to do with little kids—but what about some good activities to do with your tweens and teens?
I know from experience that as the kids get older, they’re more into their friends and maybe a little less into hanging with mom and dad. The activities below could be easy ways you could hang with the teens and tweens in your life, while also incorporating their friends. We’d had some great experiences playing pickleball and letting our kids invite some friends. It’s an easy way to have some fun with them, get to know their friends better and just enjoy hanging out.
Hope these three nearby venues help you connect with your crew!
I recently got to tour this spot that’s around 9 minutes from Central Park and I’ve been back several times to participate in their “open play” sessions. We’ve also booked courts with friends and enjoyed their wood fired pizza and multiple bars. Check out a video I did there.

Located in the hangar of the Stanley Marketplace (and there’s another location in RiNo), this massive, multi-level indoor golf facility with two bar areas is a blast. There are 12 bays with TrackMan simulators where you can play virtual PGA-tour stop courses. Also, there are bar games and even a sand volleyball area on the patio for any non-golfers in your group. You can order food from anywhere in Stanley and enjoy it in Local Drive.

Don’t sleep on this Central Park landmark! In addition to one-hour tours to the top of the former Stapleton International Airport air traffic control tower (ages 10 and up), the place is loaded with different types of entertainment. You can book in advance for bowling, pool, ping pong, axe throwing, and golf/sport simulators—or just show up for 18 holes of mini golf, an arcade, and lawn and table games. They now have an easy self order counter and you can enjoy the food anywhere you want, including up by the games.

We hope these three easy ideas help you connect with the teens and tweens in your life. We think they all offer an opportunity to hang with them, but in a fun relaxed environment that involves their friends.
