The refuge residence could be built somewhere near the right side of this photograph

There are thousands of homes in and around Denver’s Central Park neighborhood. But there’s one “residence” in particular I’ve fielded a few questions about from our clients that I thought some of you might want to know about.

Just north of the last stretch of under construction homes in Central Park’s North End neighborhood is a sign that reads: “Future Location of Refuge Residence.”

So what’s the story with this sign?

This sign technically isn’t in Central Park – it’s located on the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. The Arsenal put the sign up to designate where a future refuge building could be located. This building could be used for refuge employees who need intermittent housing while working as seasonal employees, interns, or while waiting to purchase/rent their own residence.

Last we heard from the Arsenal, they don’t currently have funds to build the residence, and there are no drawings or renderings showing what the residence might look like. We’re not sure if the sign is exactly where the residence could be built, either. All we know right now is that the residence could be 1-story and located in the general vicinity of the sign.

One of our clients joked about living at the residence (best views in Denver!) – but of course, unfortunately this might just be the only home close to Central Park you can’t rent or buy!

We’ll update you on the Scoop when/if we hear more about the Arsenal residence.
