I mean this in the kindest way:
I cannot want your success more than you want it for yourself.
Years ago, when I owned my gym, I had a conversation with a member that has stuck with me.
She wanted to improve her mile time but wasn’t getting any faster. She thought we needed to add more running into the workouts.
So I asked a few questions.
“Did you make it to Thursday run club?”
“No… after work is tough, and there are usually happy hours.”
“Okay… what about the extra speed workouts I sent?”
“I think I saw them… but I get so many emails.”
“Are you consistently pushing your pace during class?”
“Not always… and I like to sleep in instead of the Saturday endurance class.”
Sound familiar?
As a coach, I can guide, program, and encourage.
But I cannot do the work for you.
Progress comes from showing up, pushing yourself, and making choices about your priorities.
So the real question is:
How badly do you want it?
This serves as a great reminder in business, too.
We want progress.
We want results.
We want momentum.
But we don’t always want to make the trade-offs that come with them.
Or…
We feel so overwhelmed by all the things we could be doing that we don’t know where to start.
I work with a lot of founders right here in the Central Park neighborhood, and this theme comes up all the time.
We’re busy.
We’re juggling families, activities, and running a business.
Time and energy are at a premium.
And underneath it, I hear the same thing again and again:
“I know I want to move forward… I just don’t know what to focus on.”
Here’s the truth:
Progress isn’t about doing everything.
It’s about doing the right things, consistently.
💪 Coach’s Cues
One and done won’t cut it
One workout won’t build strength.
One email won’t grow your business.
Small, repeated actions over time are what actually create progress.
Lower the bar. Raise the consistency.
Clarity beats overwhelm
When everything feels important, nothing gets done.
Pick one thing.
Focus your energy there.
Let that be enough for now.
Be honest about what you want
If something really matters to you, your actions will start to reflect it.
And if they’re not?
It might not be the right season. And that’s okay too.
But clarity comes from honesty, not pressure.
Ready to Focus?
I know what I need to do… I’m just not doing it…”
